From production hall to folk high school

Every classroom and hang-out area at RoFH has been specifically created for the atmosphere and hands-on approach we want to take place in the room. Our philosophy is that, instead of entering a classroom, you enter a lab filled with the themes and subject of your course.

43.5 by 43.5 meters production hall turned into a folk high school. The building was previously used for concrete manufacturing.

Today, RoFH is the setting for feeling at homeliness, immersion, and creative exploration.

Auditorium

The iconic auditorium creates that special orange feeling – as a reference the Orange Stage at Roskilde Festival – for the morning singing sessions, common meetings, talks, and concerts.

Workshops

All the classrooms of the school are made as workshops for the courses. For instance, the rooms for Music consists of two studios and a venue.

Outdoor areas

RoFH is placed in a flourishing green area, where initiative and community is celebrated. We are in collaboration transforming an old concrete factory into a living and sustainable urban area, with plenty of room to enjoy.

Housing groups

As a student at RoFH, you will live on a floor with 15-20 other students. The housing group creates ‘the small community’ during your stay.

Your room

As a student at RoFH, you will be living in one of six housing groups. Each housing group can accommodate 18 residents in two- and three-person rooms. The heart of the housing group is the common area, where you share a simple tea kitchen, lounge area, and small nooks to work, game, or just meet over a cup of coffee.

A Creative District (in Danish)

The school is situated in Musicon, a lively creative district between Roskilde train station and the festival site. The former concrete factory of 250.000 m2 now houses approximately 50 organizations ranging from start-ups, a theater, cafés, workshops, skate halls, youth housing and rehearsal rooms.

One of our closes neighbors is Ragnarock - a museum for pop, rock and youth culture. The museum is also designed by MVRDV og COBE.

Next to our student housing lies Hal 12 that houses 1600 m2 skate og event facilities.

Living in Roskilde

During your stay at RoFH, you will also get the opportunity to explore Roskilde and the area, with its easy access to culture and nature. The school is only 25 minutes by train to Copenhagen.

Close to culture

Roskilde is overflowing with history, vikings, exceptional nature and locally sourced dining.

Close to nature

If you enjoy a bike ride, camping in nature, or smooth sailing on the water, then the ice age landscape of Roskilde Fjord is the place to be.
