MediaProduction
In Media Production, we work with photography, film, sound, and graphic design across different formats and media platforms. We use theories and models of strategic communication and create products for both internal and external audiences, always with a concrete final output in mind.
Working creatively with media is, above all, about mastering production — so that your vision, aesthetics, and storytelling are as sharp as possible. You can choose to write, photograph, film, edit, or design layouts. The best media productions come from a clear sender and a personal voice.
In the Media Production programme, you can focus on your chosen form of expression — or explore entirely new ones.
This subject is for those who wonder why certain messages, images, or campaigns hit the mark and change the world. It’s also for those who constantly come up with new concepts and stories and want to test them in a hands-on learning process. You’ll gain not only practical experience in communication but also a foundational understanding of psychology and sociology.
In the Media Production programme, we dive into media history and discuss it through the lens of literary, psychological, and sociological ideas and theories.
Along the way, we work in groups on real-world projects. Using both classic and modern tools, we develop, test, and carry out concrete media plans and productions. Our “clients” might be Roskilde Festival, the local brewery, a new artist, or our own folk high school. At its core, communication is about creating connection and change.
You’ll be equipped with tools, models, and tips for creating actionable plans. We work with the Adobe Suite, Canva, and have access to facilities for photo printing, test prints, textile prints, and large-scale banner printing — for example, for festivals.
You’ll receive instruction in photography, film production, and text-image relations, both in theory and practice. Theoretical content is taught in an engaging way, grounded in students’ own experiences, and assignments are typically group-based with specific creative constraints and guidance.

With this course under your belt, it’s natural to continue your studies in Media Production & Management, Visual Communication at DMJX, or other professional bachelor’s programs within communication, film, and design. You might also choose a more academic path, such as Media Studies at Aarhus or the University of Copenhagen, or a creative one, like Design at the Royal Danish Academy. No matter which direction you choose, your teachers are ready to guide you along the way.
